PHILADELPHIA (1210 WPHT)- After 32 years, the annual charity bike ride from Philly to Atlantic City continues to do good for the families of fallen first responders.

Irish Pub Owner Mike O'Connor and FOP Lodge 56 President Wayne Bonfiglio talked about the yearly event with The Rich Zeoli Show.

"We were the 'Tour de Shore,' now we're the 'Ben to the Shore,'" said O'Connor. "The foundation name was the 'Tour de Shore Children's Foundation.' We changed it to 'Families Behind the Badge Children's Foundation.'"

O'Connor explained the name change, saying the board sought a name that reflected the mission of helping the families of fallen first responders.

"Once an officer is killed in the line of duty, their assets are immediately frozen...this is a super important day," added Bonfiglio.

Bonfiglio was sure to mention one of the necessities in order to participate in the bike ride.

"You need to have a bicycle that's in good working order. We have bike support along the way, but there's only so many tires they can fix."

The ride will take place on July 28.
