White House Economic Adviser Kevin Hassett joined The Rich Zeoli Show on 1210 WPHT discussing the country entering phase four of the re-opening of America amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Phase four is what we’re looking at now. People watch the President on Twitter and it kind of feels like he’s going from thing to thing but he’s a very systematic guy. I’ve worked with him now for about 3 years and what he’s told us to do is basically make a plan for if things continue like right now, to get better way faster than what economists think. But also to have a plan for if we were to do if it were slower, if the disease were to take off again.”

Hassett continued, “What we’ve done right now is basically done scenario planning. So, come July which is about when this needs to happen, we’ll have lots more data, we’ll have the jobs numbers for June and so on. We’ll have clarity on how things are going.”

Hassett emphasized the President’s top priority is to protect businesses from lawsuits if someone were to contract the disease without proof of where it was contracted.

“There are a few lawyers out there that are willing to sue you. I think a lot of concerns have been raised with lot of people we’ve talked to….one thing just about everyone always mentions is liability protection so that people can’t just sue them if they get COVID and claim it happened at their business.”
