PHILADELPHIA (1210 WPHT)- Congressman Guy Reschenthaler was not quick to celebrate Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and the USMCA deal. In an interview with The Rich Zeoli Show, Reschenthaler explained Pelosi's motives for the compromise.

"We've got to remember, we can't applaud Nancy Pelosi on this. This deal should have been done months ago," said Reschenthaler. "The American farmers have been waiting for this.

"She's continuing to play politics," Reschenthaler added. "She's only doing this because impeachment is beating the Democrats up so bad that she needs a win."

Reschenthaler admitted he was unsure if Pelosi was cooperating in exchange for impeachment votes.

"I don't know the inner workings behind Nancy Pelosi's team," Reschenthaler explained. "She's a really good counter of votes. She also rules with an iron fist."

Reschenthaler reflected on the impeachment hearings and the state of the nation.

"This is [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's] Democrat party, and they're going to be fervent about impeachment," Reschenthaler lamented. "They're going nuts over this impeachment, even though in the polls, they're dropping.

"All those swing states he needs to win, he's well ahead of his Democrat opponents," noted Reschenthaler.

Reschenthaler pointed out how the Democrats have tried to modify their strategy as the impeachment proceedings continue.

"A few weeks ago, they were calling this a 'quid pro quo.' They then tested that in a focus group...it went over poorly," Reschenthaler explained.  "So they changed the language to 'bribery.' Now today, I wake up and all the news articles are calling it 'abuse of power.'

"Abuse of power is much more amorphous," Reschenthaler said. "It's much more flexible. They know they don't have the evidence to support a quid pro quo or bribery."
