PHILADELPHIA (1210 WPHT)- A mother is speaking out on State Representative’s Brian Sims’ behavior at a Planned Parenthood protest.

Ashley Garecht and her teenage daughters were present at the protest when Sims hollered at them, camera in hand, demanding their names and addresses. The Garecht and her children made it into Sims’ controversial video.

According to Garecht, the altercation in the video was the second interaction Sims had with her and her daughters.

In an interview with The Rich Zeoli Show, Garecht told her side of the story.

“My assumption was he was trying to cause trouble and be intimidating,” said Garecht of Sims’ tantrum. “When we left, we prayed for Mr. Sims. We didn’t know his name at the time, and I thought that would be the end of it.”

Garecht denied she and her daughters were doing anything to harass or block people from entering the clinic.

“We were there, only praying…in a barely audible tone,” said Garecht. “I never go [to protests] to pray in front of clinics to be in any kind of altercation, and especially when I have my children with me, I’m not looking to have any kind of verbal or physical interaction with anybody coming in or out of the clinic.

“The only people we talk to are people who are there to pray.”

Garecht lamented that, despite her best efforts, Sims insisted on yelling at her daughters, who are ages 15 and 13. “Please speak to me, the adult,” Garecht pleaded. “Don’t yell at the minors, the girls who are here.”

In the end, Sims left Garecht  confused about his motives for yelling in the first place.

“He was yelling aggressively at girls about being mean to girls…That really doesn’t make sense to me.”
