Senator Pat Toomey on Coronavirus and the Importance of Masks

Dom Giordano talks with Senator Pat Toomey about wearing a face covering throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the cultural problem that people have to make because of it. Toomey explains how he laid out a proposal that people wear some sort of face covering, adding that it falls in line with the obvious prevention measures such as coughing into an elbow. Toomey talks about countries in East Asia that wear masks all the time, pointing out they have had much lower rates of transmission. Plus, Toomey talks about his phone call with President Trump and the idea to wear a U.S.A bandanna to unify as a nation.

A Masked America?

Today, Dom Giordano led off the program by recapping President Trump's crisis team press conference, in which Trump forecasted a very painful two weeks. Dom tells whether or not he believes this to be the case, and discusses what will happen going forward. In the press conference, the President also suggested using scarves in lieu of masks due to shortages. Tucker Carlson takes umbrage with the President's handling of the face mask controversy, asking the administration to not lie to the citizens. Also, Dom hits on a request by Governor Phil Murphy to reduce the SALT (State and Local Tax) cap when taxing New Jersey citizens during the Coronavirus crisis.

PA State Sen. Doug Mastriano on Wolf's Waiver System

Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano (R-33) joins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss Governor Wolf's handling of the Coronavirus pandemic, particularly the state waiver process to approve which small businesses should be considered 'essential' and allowed to operate. Mastriano, a vocal critic of Governor Wolf, explained why he believes Wolf to be the least transparent Governor in Pennsylvania history, after news came out that both his business and other politician businesses were granted waivers, although their competitors weren't. The growing outrage has led the Senator to draft a bill entitled the “Pennsylvania Healthy Citizens and Healthy Businesses” which calls for businesses that have been forced to close during the COVID-19 pandemic to resume operations if strict guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration are practiced.
