PHILADELPHIA (1210)- The “wild” in “Wildwood” is not necessarily condoned by the shore town’s mayor.

In an interview with The Dom Giordano Program, Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano addressed a lawsuit filed by Philadelphian Emily Weinman following her arrest on the Wildwood Beach.

“It’s a money grab. It doesn’t matter what you do or how you do it,” explained Troiano. “‘Somebody did you wrong. Therefore, we’re going to file suit. We’re going to try to get you money.’ It’s the art of compromise anymore, where everybody gets something for nothing.”

“I guess it’s good to be bad and bad to be good,” Troiano added.

Troiano explained why he thinks Weinman is coming back with a lawsuit after the issue was adjudicated.

“Unfortunately, that’s the way of the world today,” Troiano said. “And it always works out to where somebody’s going to get something because that’s the way it is.

“It pays to be bad. Hell, if somebody gave me a beat-down and I got a million dollars, I’d be happy with that,” Troiano quipped.

Troiano questioned the behavior of vacationers in Wildwood.

“I don’t know why it’s such a hard thing for people just to sit there and say, ‘Come down, have a good time. But let’s not get stupid and do stuff that could cause harm not only to yourself but the people around you,’” said Troiano. “So, I don’t know. The world’s upside-down and it’s not getting any better."

“It just seems to be anytime somebody’s offended, they sue," Troiano said.
