Danielle Outlaw Named New Police Commissioner of Philadelphia

Today, Dom filled in again on the Rich Zeoli Show, and led off by talking about the news yesterday that Philadelphia Mayor Kenney nominated his new police commissioner, former Portland Police Chief Danielle Outlaw. Dom plays back clips from Outlaw’s introductory press conference, and while he’s not fully supportive of the new Commissioner, he is willing to give her a shot. Outlaw seemed to make it clear that the size difference between Portland and Philadelphia will be no issue, but seemed to focus heavily on police reform and didn’t have many answers for how she’ll address the rising murder rate in the city. Also, Dom and Dan give their predictions for 2020 in both politics and entertainment.

USA Today’s 20 Predictions for 2020

This week, USA Today compiled a list of predictions made long ago for the year 2020. The list is largely hit or miss, with great forecasting around technology but less so on politics and society. Dom and Dan run down the list and give their thoughts on whether or not the predictions are accurate. Also, Dom talks about a proclamation by Michael Bloomberg that he will change the Oval Office into an open office. And Dom reveals a study that connects a rise in opioid usage with closure of auto manufacturing plants.

John McNesby | FOP President

John McNesby joins the Dom Giordano Program for his regular check-in, this time reflecting upon the Nicetown shooting earlier this year, but more importantly offering his take on new Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. McNesby and the rest of the FOP had hoped that Kenney would hire within, but McNesby has confidence that Outlaw will run the city right and looks forward to working with her.
