South Philly's Overnight Viral Sensation Speaks Out

Leighanne Savloff made headlines yesterday and Twitter was set ablaze after she calmly and respectively faced down former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell at a Wednesday press conference, announcing a safe injection site in South Philadelphia to open Monday. Savloff, a resident of South Philadelphia, passionately and succinctly laid out the gripes that we on the Dom Giordano Program have been hearing since the first site was announced for Kensington. Savloff joins the Dom Giordano Program to explain her decision to speak out, and further elaborate on her fears for the future of her South Philadelphia neighborhood.

Jody Della Barba's Anti-Safe Injection Site Rally

At 10, Jody Della Barba, longtime assistant to Frank Rizzo, announces and discussing an upcoming march in South Philadelphia to protest the decision to allow Safehouse in the area. The march will begin Monday at 3:30PM in Marconi Plaza and proceed north on Broad street towards the site, which is due to open the same day on the corner of Broad and McKean. Della Barba lays out what it is about the site that worries her and other residents of the neighborhood, and explains the plan for protests going forward.
